Okay, if you are like me, you have seen about a million plus commercials on Nickelodeon.

There is the rather annoying ( my opinion here) song about squishy little dolls and there are the ones for these little boxes that you get and a super tiny toy is inside.

These are the ones I really don’t pay attention to because I know they are items that, for my children, are not of interest.  Unless that song about the squishy dolls gets stuck in my head for the morning and then I am forced to pay attention.  But otherwise, not so much.

The one that I do pay attention to is to the items that belong to the Kinetic “family”  I wrote a previous blog on Kinetic Sand and it is still a fan favorite in our house.  So it really comes as no surprise that its brother, Kinetic Rock does the same.

Kinetic Rock comes in this cool rock shaped container.  You take the lid off and when you look inside, it looks like gravel that you might see at the bottom of an aquarium.

Then when you dump it out, you can really see how fluid this stuff is.

Now when you have a child with special needs, specifically Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and Dyspraxia, like Elizabeth.  Your  start to take in features about the product, kind of like doing a check off list of  Will this or won’t this be okay for my child?

I will tell you in terms of it being offensive or sticky to the touch —-it is not!  It does not leave any residue on your hands or on the surface it is on.  But it offers a really great sensory input because it is much more coarse than its sandy brother.

It has no odor and is easy to work with.  So although you can get some nice sensory input from forming it into shapes, it is definitely NOT hard work to do this.  So it is fun!

Michael was the first one to try it and he loved it.  He also loved the sandy version but seems to like this one better because it is a bit heartier to work with.

I would say it is so worth purchasing to add to a sensory bin for sure but also to have just because it is fun to play with.

I will say that storing it back in its original container is not the easiest thing because the “rock” it comes in is smallish.  So we put it in an airtight container and it stays just fine!

So if you hear the commercial and wonder if it is worth it.  In our opinion, it is!

Please take a look on our site to read a bit more about it.

Happy fidgeting with Kinetic Rock.

I wish everyone a peaceful week.
